What is the New Neighbor Project?

WE WANT TO PROVIDE A VOICE.

The New Neighbor Project is a 501(c)(3) non profit organization that provides support to our immigrant neighbors through donation based ESL, Citizenship and HISET classes as well as Citizenship application assistance and scholarship opportunities to help provide a holistic pathway to citizenship for people in our community.

What’s New?

Both classes meet twice a week on Mondays and Thursdays. The Level 1 class is from 9:00 AM to 10:15 AM and the Level 2 class is from 10:30 AM to 11:45 AM. Whether you're just starting or looking to improve, our structured lessons provide the support you need to grow in confidence and fluency.

ONLINE LEVEL 1 AND 2 BEGINNER CLASSES

TULANE TUTORING BEGINS THURSDAY 2/13/2025

Our Tulane tutoring class is starting next Tuesday and Thursday from 6:00-8:00 pm at Dinwiddie Hall. The classes will take place in rooms 103 and 108. Parking is available streetside on Saint Charles Avenue. Additionally, there will be an online tutoring option during the Thursday in-person sessions. Join us for drop-in ESL tutoring sessions!

 

IN-PERSON CITIZENSHIP CLASSES

Our online Citizenship classes are on hold as we roll out new in-person citizenship classes every Tuesday from 5:30p-7:00pm at Jefferson Parish Rosedale Library!

HiSET CLASSES POSTPONED

When HiSet classes resume they will be held virtually on Mondays at 6:00pm.

Prepare for the High School Equivalency Test (HiSET) with our online class offered in Spanish. Our tutors offer assistance with the test application, questions on the exam, and other information about the test taking process.

CLASSES POSTPONED AT TANGIPAHOA AND LAPLACE

The classes scheduled at Tangipahoa and Laplace are temporarily canceled. We will provide updates as soon as we have more information.

Exciting news! Our Slidell classes have officially begun as of February 25. Join us every week from 6:00 to 7:30 PM for engaging sessions. Don't miss out and sign up below!

SLIDELL BEGINNER 1 CLASSES HAVE STARTED

Join us every Thursday from April to August, 4 PM - 5 PM, for our Citizenship Class at the REACH Center. This class will provide you with the essential tools to prepare for the citizenship exam and interview. Don't miss this opportunity to take the next step toward becoming a U.S. citizen!
